Our Faculty conducts scientific and research activities enabling development of engineering expertise in the area of borehole mining, geoengineering and petroleum and gas engineering. Intensive scientific activities performed at the Faculty translate into numerous publications

The Department of Gas Engineering conducts research projects in the area of:

  • exploitation of natural gas  reservoirs and underground gas storages,
  • gas exploitation from unconventional  reservoirs (CBM, shale gas),
  • designing of gas transmission systems,
  • modelling of exploitation of hydrocarbons  reservoirs and underground gas storages,
  • analysis of energy systems in Poland.

The Department of Petroleum Engineering runs research projects in the area of:

  • exploitation, mathematical modelling and computer aided simulation of onshore and offshore hydrocarbon  reservoirs,
  • novel logging methods,
  • reservoir fluid – rock interaction in core scale,
  • review of hydrocarbon reservoir resources,
  • providing access and exploitation of underground waters and water distribution systems,
  • design and optimization of well stimulation treatment,
  • Improved and Enhanced Oil recovery methods,
  • environmental protection in the oil and gas industry,
  • economics in the petroleum industry,
  • underground storage of hydrogen, CO2 and other substances.

The Department of Drilling and Geoengineering runs research projects in the area of:

  • new methods and technologies in the drilling sector,
  • designing of wildcats, exploratory, step-outs, infills and re-entries wellbores,
  • fishing operations,
  • directional wellbores,
  • drilling fluids and sealing slurries technologies,
  • designing and certification tests for drilling equipment,
  • methods of geothermal energy utilisation,
  • methods and technologies in geoengineering (e.g. reinforcement and sealing of soil and rock),
  • trenchless techniques and technologies,
  • petroleum geomechanics.

The Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas conducts research and research and implementation works within the frameworks of national projects (the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Poland) and international projects (the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, EU's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, Norway Grants, European Space Agency).
